Behind the scenes, our substantial support network gets to work. The R&D team can assist with the design implementation of your project, conducting surveys to determine dimensions and using 3D models to bring your design concepts to life. Consultants from our Joinery and Upholstery teams engineer the required products through the production process, while specialists advise on foam options, material selections, upholstery features, and colour schemes. Once the items are built, we will deliver and fit them on site, if required.

The Research and Development team at Lang and Potter is the engine room of our innovation. Working in close collaboration with both the Sales and Production departments, their expertise directly influences the design and manufacture of all our products.
Equipped with advanced tools and software, and backed by deep understanding of product development and manufacturing processes, our R&D team is well placed to support you with any challenging aspects of your project. Whether you require assistance at the earliest planning stage or specialist input to help finalise your design, Lang and Potter can provide valuable insight and guidance.
Our consultants are available to work remotely or on-site at any location across the UK, offering support for residential, corporate, and commercial applications.
Surveying and Patterning
The foundation of any project is the accuracy of the data collected to deliver the designer’s vision. Lang and Potter maintain the same industry-leading standards for all our projects, large and small, providing a flexible, professional service tailored to your needs. Our experienced technical specialists can use state-of-the-art laser surveying equipment or traditional hand-patterning techniques to capture all the data necessary to execute your plan. Whichever method is selected, the data will be processed by our Development team and distributed to our workshops as 3D models and annotated drawings.
There is an art to surveying and patterning that goes beyond the logistics of gathering accurate data. Lang and Potter use their decades of experience across a breadth of disciplines to adjust tolerances and radii for the use of different substrates, materials, and environments, providing the high levels of quality that we are renowned for. We are based in Plymouth, but our operatives can be deployed further afield when required.

Our team of professional operatives can ensure that all your Lang and Potter purchases are fitted on-site perfectly and securely, with minimal disruption to your business, vessel, or residence, if required.
